The sport and leisure facilities at Poltarrow have been especially
created for guests looking for a relaxing holiday, but also for those
wanting a little more activity.
The facilities are for the enjoyment of
guests staying at Poltarrow and are situated a few minutes walk from the Cottages, but just
far enough not to spoil the tranquility of your holiday home.
INDOOR SWIMMING POOL
Understandably popular, the indoor swimming pool is at a constant all year temperature
of 30 deg, making swimming a relaxing experience, just the thing for de-stressing.The
pool is 10m long and 4m wide and a constant 1.4 m depth with a temperature
of 30 degrees celcius. Ideal for parents with small children. There is also
a changing room and shower. For safety, access can only be obtained through
a security system and is available to guests from 7am to 9.00pm. (except Saturday
mornings when it is closed for cleaning) So perfect, whatever the season -
whatever the weather.
SPORTS HALL
The large heated sports hall has a
range of sports for most ages. Test your skills with a quiet game of
short mat bowls or take a cue and stepup to the table for a game of pool.
Table tennis, short tennis and badminton can be good fun, where you
can improve on your footwork and racquet movement providing the opportunity
for a vigorous workout.
TUMBLE ROOM
Specifically designed for the under 5’s, where
children can feel safe and secure. This is the perfect place to encourage
imaginative minds to discover fantasy and fun. Soft building blocks,
tunnels and slides make perfect hideaways, stimulating games, exercise
and creative play.
FISHING
The lake is fed from natural springs and has varying depths of
water to accommodate the needs of rudd, perch, blue orf and of course the elusive
carp. Experience the delight of sitting in the stillness by the
waters edge, or on the lake in the rowing boat Jubilee, waiting for the “big
one”. Now’s the time to get fishing.
FARM TRAIL
If you just want to relax, then why not stroll around the forty five
acres of fields, passing the pond with appleyard, call duck, mandarin
and carolina ducks. Through to the woodland where you can get
closeup to the wildlife. Watch the resident buzzards soar above
with their high pitched call, the statuesque heron standing on one
leg, looking for his supper.You are certain to find something that
will make your visit to Poltarrow special.
For those who have come to recharge their batteries there
is 45 acres of peaceful countryside to roam, with lakes to be fished
and woodlands to be discovered.
There is also plenty for the energetic with an 30' x
15' indoor heated swimming pool and sports hall with short mat bowls,
short tennis, badminton, pool and table tennis.
No one is left out at Poltarrow, especially not the
little people who have their own soft play room as well as the outside
play area, complete with climbing frame and Wendy house.
